The Greatest Treasures
Challenging each child to grow in Christ….
As part of our Enrollment Package, families provide a current picture of their child. Today, I was processing the weekend’s enrollments. I went through the mundane motions…I saved a photo, struggled with the printer, printed a picture, cut it out, ran out of staples, etc.…but as I finally attached the photo to the file, I slowed down for a moment, distracted by the open face, clean haircut, and clear eyes before me, and I really looked. “What a darling child,” I thought. “How different from children you see in the news or randomly out in public”….I attached the picture and continued on with other demands. However, as I worked through the morning, I thought of all our Bibleway Academy Online students and what each of these children means to their parents, their family, and to the Lord. Each a precious treasure that has been placed in the hands of our school and our teachers. And how parents have undoubtedly mulled over, prayed, discussed, and weighed options before deciding on BAO.
In the Bible, children are referred to as a heritage of the Lord. A gift. The pride of their parents. What a privilege as an educator to know that a parent has sought the Lord and has allowed me to have influence over their most precious treasure. I pray that our school and all of our teachers would always recognize the trust and privilege that we have been given to be a part in raising up the children of God’s children around the world. May we be filled with the wisdom and knowledge to help raise up each child in our classrooms to serve the Lord and to have a genuine relationship with Him. In every day of the upcoming school year, I pray that every teacher will “challenge each child to grow in Christ as they complete their education from home” as it says in our Mission Statement.
I recently came across this quote…
“Your children are the greatest gift God will give you, and their souls the heaviest responsibly He will place in your hands. Take time with them teach them to have faith in God. Be a person in whom they can have faith. When you are old, nothing else you’ve done will have mattered as much.” –Lisa Wingate
I’m proud to take time, to teach, to build faith and trust, and dedicate my life to each treasure under my influence. I’m proud to be a part of raising each child in a Godly perspective in an ungodly world. I’m proud to assist the Bride of Christ as they raise their children.
Thank you, parents. Thank you for the trust you have shown by enrolling your children and for the privilege to be a part of raising them. Each one is a rare and special treasure.
