Math 9 – 12

ALGEBRA I:
In this StudyForge-based curriculum, students will continue their study of mathematics. During the year, students will be introduced to basic Algebra by learning and practicing such concepts as operations with rational numbers, exponents, exponent laws, operations with polynomials, linear relationships, statistics, and finances. Algebra I includes ten chapters with 3-5 lessons each. Each lesson includes teaching videos and practice questions. All work and assessments are available and are submitted online. No text is required. Students will be asked to complete and present three projects over the course of the year to apply and to demonstrate new knowledge, personal inquiry, and reflection.
Teacher: Miss Donald
ALGEBRA II:
In this StudyForge-based curriculum, students will extend their knowledge gained from Algebra I. Algebra II integrates algebra with geometry, statistics, data analysis, functions, probability, and trigonometry. Students will build on their work with linear, quadratic, and exponential functions, as well as extend their repertoire of functions to include polynomial, rational, and radical functions. Algebra II concepts include patterns and recursions, linear systems, rational, exponential, quadratic, and logarithmic functions, conic sections, and series. Algebra II includes twelve chapters with 5-7 lessons each. Each lesson includes teaching videos and practice questions. All work and assessments are available and are submitted online. No text is required. Students will be asked to complete and present projects over the course of the year to apply and to demonstrate new knowledge, personal inquiry, and reflection. (PREREQUISITE: ALGEBRA I)
*Course availability based on sufficient enrollment.

GEOMETRY:
In this course students will experience both the development and application of geometry as they explore and interact with topics such as angles, lines, triangles, circles, transformations, and more. Along the way, students will perform constructions in a variety of mediums, analyze and complete deductions and proofs, and apply the geometric principles and theorems that have been discovered over the centuries. Students will also have fun meeting geometry-loving siblings who get into all sorts of adventures and predicaments, which — you guessed it — require geometry to solve. All work, projects, and assessments are available and are submitted online. Students may be required to purchase additional workbooks. (PREREQUISITE: ALGEBRA I)
*Course availability based on sufficient enrollment.
Teacher: Miss McNulty
APPRETICESHIP AND WORKPLACE MATH I:
In this StudyForge-based curriculum, students will explore, learn, and practice such concepts as systems of measurement, linear measurement and area, Pythagorean theorem, trigonometry, price comparison, income, and some algebra. After completion of the course, students can continue in the Workplace Math Stream, which is designed for students intending to enter the workplace or a trade after high school completion. This course is designed to develop a clear connection between math and daily life. Each lesson includes teaching videos and practice questions. All work and assessments are available and are submitted online. No text is required. (PREREQUISITE: ALGEBRA I)
*Course availability based on sufficient enrollment.
Teacher: Mrs Tushner
APPRENTICESHIP AND WORKPLACE MATH II:
In this StudyForge-based curriculum, Math students will explore, learn, and practice such concepts as algebra, graphical representations, surface area, volume, capacity, right triangles, scale representations, financial services, and personal budgets. This course is designed for students intending to enter the workplace or a trade after high school completion and is designed to develop a clear connection between math and daily life. Each lesson includes teaching videos and practice questions. All work and assessments are available and are submitted online. No text is required. (PREREQUISITE: ALGEBRA I, APPRETICESHIP AND WORKPLACE MATH I)
*Course availability based on sufficient enrollment.
Teacher: TBA
PRE-CALCULUS:
In this StudyForge-based curriculum, Math 11 students will explore, learn, and practice such concepts as quadratic functions, radical functions, polynomial functions, absolute value functions, rational expressions, arithmetic and geometric sequences, and trigonometry. After completion of the course, students can continue on to calculus as a senior or in post-secondary education after high school completion. Each lesson includes teaching videos and practice questions. All work and assessments are available and are submitted online. No text is required. (PREREQUISITE: Foundations of Math & Pre-Calculus 10 or Algebra I and Geometry)
*Course availability based on sufficient enrollment.
